League of Legends will undergo significant changes in 2025, including a new seasonal thematic and various gameplay enhancements. Instead of the usual one season a year, there will be three themed seasons a year, each lasting about 16 weeks and split into two acts. With this new format, players should have a more interesting and dynamic experience all year long.
“Noxus,” one of Runeterra’s most notorious regions, will be the theme of the first season. Players can look forward to visual updates to Summoner’s Rift that are influenced by the Noxus, such as new turret designs and other elements that fit with the Noxian style. A new epic jungle monster called Atakhan will also be added. Atakhan is a Noxian demon that only appears once every 20 minutes. Its appearance and rewards change depending on what is happening in the game.
Riot Games has made a detailed patch schedule for 2025 to keep the game balanced and add new content. There will be 24 patches in a year, eight patches for each season. There will be a new way to name the patches: YEAR.SEASON.PATCH-NUMBER. For example, 25.S1.1 will be the name of the first patch of Season 1. This structure makes it easy for players to see how each season is going and how long it is left.
